S. N. Tiwari graduated in Metallurgical Engineering in 1964 from Banaras Hindu University. He obtained M.Sc. (Met. Engg) and Ph.D. degrees from the same university. He took over as the Head of Department of Metallurgical Engineering and later on as Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Technology I.T. B.H.U. in 1989 and 2005 respectively. Presently he is the Director of Moradabad Institute of Technology. Dr. Tiwari visited University of Sheffield under Indo-British University Collaboration Programme and University of Mauritius under Indian Economic and Technical Cooperation Programme of Government of India. He has a vast experience of teaching and research of some four decades in the general area of Metal Casting Technology. He has supervised a large number of M.Tech. dissertations and Ph.D. theses and has nearly 150 research publicationsto his credit.

The second part of the book consists of seven chapters dealing with special cast irons, selection of cast irons for different applications, defects of iron castings and their remedies, welding of cast irons, inspection and testing as well as design of iron castings and Indian practice of cast iron technology.</span></p><div><br></div></div></div>
