Khushwant Singh was born in 1915 in the Hadali village of Punjab, which is now a part of Pakistan. He is one of the widely read and best known columnists and authors in India. He was the editor of the Illustrated Weekly of India, the Hindustan Times and National Herald and also the founder editor of Yogana. The Mark of Vishnu and Other Stories was his first book which was published in 1950. Over the past six decades, he has published several best-selling nonfiction and fiction books.
