Khushwant Singh was born in 1915, in the Hadali village of Punjab, which is now a part of Pakistan. He is a widely read and well-known columnist and author in India. He was the editor of The Illustrated Weekly of India, The Hindustan Times and National Herald and the founder-editor of Yogana. The Mark of Vishnu and Other Stories was his first book, which was published in 1950. Over the past six decades he has published several best-selling nonfiction and fiction books.
