This dictionary contains accurate definitions of the working vocabulary of A Dictionary of Biology while compiling the dictionary the author has concentrated on terms which seem to him to be in the widest use. A very useful system of cross references assists the reader to find his way from one related topic to another. It also allows the greatest account of information to be given in a small space. Thus many of the entries contain words which are themselves defined elsewhere. SI units are used throughout this dictionary.
