RS Ambasht PhD FNASc FNA was Emeritus Professor, INSA Honorary Scientist, CSIR Emeritus and INSA Senior Scientist; and Professor and Head, Department of Botany, Banaras Hindu University,Varanasi, UP. He taught ecology and environmental aspects for over 40 years, and was decorated with Birbal Sahni Gold Medal of IBS, Platinum Jubilee Lecture Award of ISCA, UGC-Pranwanand Saraswati National Award and fellowships of the Indian National Science Academy and the National Academy of Sciences. He was on the board of the International Association of Ecology (INTECOL), Secretary of ISTE,President of the National Institute of Ecology,and member of National Committee on Wetlands, Environment Ministry.He wrote several books,book chapters and was editor of several prestigious publications. Prof Ambasht is widely known for his research in conservation,production and pollution ecology. NK Ambasht MSc PhD MNASc is Associate Professor and Head, Department of Botany, Christ Church College, Kanpur, UP. He obtained first class BSc Hons (Gold medal), first class MSc and PhD degrees from the Banaras Hindu University. As the Senior Research Associate (Pool Scientist) of the CSIR, besides postdoctoral research, he took BSc and MSc classes at BHU. He also worked as visiting scientist with world famous environmental scientist Prof (Dr) Donat P Hader at the Friedrich Alexander University, Erlangen, Germany. He also presented papers at Manchester (UK) and Copenhagen (Denmark) in 1994, 1996 respectively. He has to his credit over 35 research papers published in high impact international journals and two edited books published by Kluwer Academic Press (now Springer Science), USA. He is the recipient of Banaras Hindu University Prize and MM Malviya Gold Medal and the Young Scientist Certificate of the Indian Science Congress (1996). He is member of Board of Studies (Botany) of CSJM University. He is well-known internationally for his research work on UV-B radiation and tropospheric ozone enhancement impacts on the crop plants.
