<p>This volume covers the brief history of the Mughal Empire stretching from the time of Timur popularly known as Tamerlane who invaded India in 1398 and defeated the last Tughluq ruler in Delhi. The book covers the history of the Mughals stretching from Babur Humayun Akbar Jahangir and Nur Mahal or popularly known as Nur Jahan Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb. There are 13 illustrations in this book primarily portraits of the rulers described in the volume. This book is a reprint of the 1895 edition. About the Author Edward S. Holden (18461914) was a mathematician and a professor. He served his professorship at the US Naval Observatory. He was the president of the University of California from 1885 to 1888 and a recipient of five honorary degrees. He served as a librarian of the US Military Academy at West Point in 1901. He wrote books such as Sir William Herschel: His Life and Works; Real Things in Nature: A Reading Book of Science for American Boys and Girls.</p>
