Dominique Varma is a French author and academic specializing in Classics and Indian philosophy. She studied Classics and Literature at the Sorbonne and holds an M.A. in Indian philosophy and Sanskrit. Varma teaches at the University of Lille in France and has spent over two decades traveling between India and France. Her first novel, Shifting Sands, was published in English by Penguin India in 2004 and in French as Sables Mouvants by Kailash Editions Paris in 2005.
