J Bhattacharjee MTech (Structural Engineering), MPhil is currently Professor and Advisor, Department of Civil Engineering, Amity University, Noida, UP (for sometime he also served as head of the department). He is former Chief Engineer and Joint Director General, Military Engineering Service (MES). He obtained his MTech from IIT Madras and MPhil from Madras University. Presently, he is pursuing PhD in disaster management. He has completed a number of courses including the prestigious NDC (National Defence College) course and senior defence management course at CDM, Secunderabad, while serving in the department. He has a vast experience of over 45 years in planning, designing and execution of various types of civil engineering works and repair/rehabilitation/retrofitting of structures, including about 5 years at multinational consultancy organization, Gherzi Eastern Ltd, as Head (Engineering) in Delhi. He has published/presented 77 technical papers on various subjects in journals/at national and international seminars and conferences. He is a life member of 14 technical bodies in India and a governing council member of Indian Building Congress (IBC).
