<p>Crop production is a complex business requiring many skills (such as biology agronomy mechanics and marketing) and covering a variety of operations throughout the year. A highyielding crop depends on the successful implementation of the soil water and nutrient management technologies.</p><p>Crop improvement technologies improve the potentialities of higher yield and food quality in crops. New varieties and hybrids of various crops released by various crop improvement techniques are ultimately aimed to increase the yield and better quality. But these potentialities are realisable only when crops are managed and grown under conditions conducive to express their genetic potentialities. The techniques to release the potentialities of varieties and hybrids of various crops are termed as crop production techniques. One of the great principles of crop production is that there is much more to it than adaptation to the biophysical environment in which crops grow.
