About the Author Gauranganath Banerjee was a historian. Post completing his PhD in London he was appointed as a Lecturer in Egyptology and Oriental History and was the Secretary to the council of postgraduate teaching in Arts at the University of Calcutta. He was also a renowned member of the Central Asian Society of London. His other books are Hellenism in Ancient India and Primary Sources and Historical Collections.</p>
