Rajendra Tandon, born in 1934, obtained his bachelor's degree in law and went on to study his masters in English literature. A former member of the Indian Revenue Service, he has studied Sanskrit, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, mathematics, physics and law. Rajendra Tandon has published translations of Bhartrihari's Niti Shatakam, Shringar Shatakam and Vairagya Shatakam. He is deeply interested in Indian history, Indian miniature painting, astronomy, the fine arts, Indian and Western classical music and gardening. He currently lives in Mumbai.
