Jane Ainslie was born in Wellington, New Zealand. As a child she was fascinated by India. In her twenties, she travelled there to study meditation. She returned thrice later to India to advance her studies. In her early 30s, she moved to Adelaide, South Australia, from where she gained a Bachelor of Nursing degree. She worked in several hospitals in Adelaide and now works in administration helping people export their wine overseas.
