SK Haldar obtained the degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health from Calcutta University. He worked as Deputy Principal Medical Officer for more than 11 years in a hazardous industry. He has retired from Directorate General of Factory Advice Service and Labour Institutes (DGFASLI), Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, Mumbai, as Deputy Director General in 2020 after working about 22 years. The Author has more than 33 years of experience in the field of occupational health and safety. He has taken training on occupational safety and health from Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) under US Department of Labour in Chicago,USA. Dr Haldar has a teaching experience for more than 22 years in occupational health and safety. He has conducted Associate Fellow of Industrial Health (AFIH) course for doctors, training programme for occupational safety and health professionals, and organised seminars and symposia on occupational safety and health.He remained the paper in-charge of occupational health and industrial hygiene for Post-Diploma Industrial Safety Engineering Course (PDIS/ADIS) for more than 22 years at Regional Labour Institute,Kolkata,and Central Labour Institute,Mumbai. His first book Industrial and Occupational Health was published by CBS Publishers & Distributors in 2017 followed by Multiple Choice Questions on Occupational Health and Safety in 2021
