Shivraj Vishwanath Patil is currently the governor of Punjab and administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. He has been the speaker of the Eleventh Lok Sabha and former Union Home Minister. He was in the defence Ministry of Government of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi as the Minister of State.
