Dr. PANNAG S. KUMAR (MBBS, MD- Forensic Medicine & Toxicology) is Assistant Professor in the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology of Goa Medical College. He has been attached to the Department for over 15 years and has conducted more than 2000 medico-legal autopsies and more than 350 cases of examination of cases of clinical Forensic Medicine, which includes age estimation, examination of accused persons in offences against the human body, examination of victims and accused persons in cases of sexual offences; and preservation of evidential materials for DNA typing. He has been deposing as a Medical Expert Witness in cases examined by him in the Courts of Law across Goa and in neighbouring States and has had the opportunity to face cross examination in several cases of homicides and sexual crimes. He has been involved as a Resource Person in sensitisation and awareness programs in association with the Victim Assistance Unit of Goa State under the Department of Women and Child Development, Govt. of Goa and is a Resource person for training of Officers of Goa Police and other stake-holders in the area of "woman and child protection". Having been one of the top rank holders in the merit lists of the State Board Examinations in both School as well as Higher Secondary, he has been the recipient of "Dhirubhai Ambani Scholarship for higher education". He obtained his MBBS degree from Goa Medical College under Goa University and earned his Master's Degree (M.D.) in 2009 in the subject of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology from Goa Medical College under Goa University. He is an examiner for MBBS under Universities in Karnataka and Maharashtra.
